20120320Seagull 1PR
$ Arbroath Community Councillor Ian Watson believes he has found the answer to ward off the never ending problem of local seagulls. He maintains the gulls are scared of the colour red, discovered when he threw out a leftover piece of his daughter's 21st birthday cake which the gulls didn't touch. His point was further proved with tests using food on red glass plates etc. Pic shows seagulls are not aware.

The Arbroath smokie, a world renowned delicacy, is haddock smoked over woodchips by a method originating in the nearby village of authmithie.
Local legend has it that a store caught fire one night, destroying barrels of Haddock preserved in salt. The following morning, the people of Auchmithie came to clean up the ruin and found some of the barrels had caught fire, cooking the Haddock inside. Further inspections revealed the Haddock was edible and quite tasty.
